Same Day Emergency Dental Care In Lawndale

If you need emergency dental care, the experienced dentists at Bay Dental Center can skillfully diagnose your problem and efficiently perform restorative dental procedures on the same day.

Whether you are in pain or have lost or broken a tooth, we provide urgent dental care including root canal, fillings, and repairs to dental crowns or bridges. Both simple and complex extractions can be performed quickly and with little discomfort. There is no need to be referred elsewhere for treatment.

Even if you take excellent care of your teeth and come in every six months for a dental checkup, a dental emergency can happen. It may include an injury to or loss of your tooth, damage to your jaw, or an infection. An emergency dentist can provide you with pain relief and treatment to help save your tooth and protect your oral health.

Common Dental Emergencies

Some dental emergencies occur quite often, and these include lost caps, crowns, and fillings. You may be able to use a temporary, over-the-counter dental wax to fill in the area overnight until the dentist can see you in the morning.

Toothaches

If you have a severe toothache, it could indicate that you have an infection. The signs of an abscessed tooth include swelling, a throbbing toothache, and pain that radiates into your ears, jaw, and sinuses. Your dentist may treat you with antibiotics to get rid of the infection, drain the abscess, perform a root canal, or pull the tooth if it cannot be saved.

Tooth Loss

If your tooth is knocked out due to trauma, try to hold it in place in your mouth. Avoid picking it up by the crown. If you cannot keep it in your mouth, put it into a small, closed container with some saliva or milk. An emergency dentist might be able to place the tooth back in your mouth if you can get treatment within two hours of losing it.

Soft Tissue Injuries

An injury to your tongue, palate, gums, or inner cheeks can be painful. Rinse your mouth with saltwater and apply a piece of moistened gauze or a damp tea bag to the injured area. You can also hold a cold compress against the outside of your cheek for up to 10 minutes to help stop the bleeding. If the bleeding does not stop after 10 minutes, seek emergency dental treatment.

What to Do If You Experience a Dental Emergency?

Call an emergency dentist as soon as you are able. It may possible to be seen immediately. The sooner you can get to a dentist, the better the chance of saving your tooth. If it is not possible for the dentist to see you right away, you may be advised to go to the emergency room or an urgent care center for antibiotics or a pain reliever until you’re able to get your tooth looked at. You may receive instructions such as applying heat or ice to your cheek or taking some ibuprofen. These strategies can help keep you more comfortable until the dentist can treat your tooth.
